We’d love to tell you we met in a quaint bookstore or while saving a kitten from a tree, but alas, we both swiped right. [Shoutout Hinge]. For our first date, Josh decided to see if Kylie was "early morning adventure" material by suggesting a 7:00 AM paddle board session.
The morning of, disaster struck: Kylie’s paddle board popped. In a 7:00 AM caffeinated frenzy, she managed to:
Borrow a massive, non-collapsible board from a neighbor.
Realize it didn’t fit in her car.
Panic-commandeer a truck belonging to our friends, Nick and Alexis (thanks for leaving the keys in the gas gauge, guys!).
Kylie arrived at the river with a borrowed truck and a board that unbeknownst to her, was missing its fins. she spent the entire date sweating profusely, trying to steer a board that had a mind of its own, all while trying to look "chill." We both had “exit strategies" scheduled for later that morning in case the date tanked, but for the first time in history, we were actually bummed to have plans. Josh called Kylie to hang out the very next day, and every day after for the rest of the summer.
A dozen new bike purchases later, a questionable dog rescue, 50,000+ road trip miles logged, 100 new hobbies that ended in tears, and plenty of time cohabitating in small dwellings and stinky truck beds together, it’s safe to say, we’re in it for the long haul. We can’t wait for the miles ahead.
